Umenyiora fined $20k for missing media session

02/01/2012 - Indianapolis, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora was fined $20,000 for missing a mandatory 45-minute interview session with the media on Wednesday.

Umenyiora said in a statement issued by the Giants that he "misunderstood the schedule."

"It won't happen again," Umenyiora said, "and I will be at tomorrow's media session and available after the game."

The Giants are in Indianapolis preparing for Sunday's Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

The NFL said in a statement announcing the fine that all other Giants and Patriots players were available for Wednesday's interview sessions.
